Lace up those running shoes - after more than 30 years, the Dartmoor Marathon is back! Taking place on Sunday 12th April 2026, the race will see runners tackling the stunning and challenging terrain of Dartmoor National Park. And what’s the best way to keep those energy levels up? Flapjackery flapjacks, of course! As proud sponsors, we’ll be there cheering runners on and making sure there’s plenty of delicious, oaty goodness to keep them going every step of the way!
If you’re looking for scenery to distract you from those aching legs, this marathon is one for the bucket list. The route takes you through historic villages, wild open moorland and past some of Dartmoor’s most iconic landmarks - think rolling hills, rugged tors and breathtaking views.
Whether you're gunning for a personal best or just soaking up the epic landscapes, the Dartmoor Marathon is an event like no other.
Race director Dave Chanter, a seasoned runner and founder of Tavistock Run Project, is thrilled about the marathon’s revival:
“We hope the Dartmoor Marathon will become a highlight in the UK’s running calendar. With the support of volunteers, local communities, and our fantastic sponsor, Flapjackery, we’re bringing this incredible event back to life.”
And we’re chuffed to be part of it!
Well, apart from the fact that Tavistock is home to our bakery, our flapjacks are the ultimate endurance snack. Handcrafted with homegrown oats, West Country butter, and British sugar, they’re packed with slow-release energy - perfect for keeping you going over 26.2 miles of Dartmoor hills!
Flapjackery co-founder Carol Myott says:
“Dartmoor is where Flapjackery was born, so we’re honoured to support an event that showcases this incredible landscape. We’ll be there on the day, keeping runners fuelled with our flapjacks!”
Runners will set off from Plymouth Road in Tavistock, winding through Whitchurch, Pennycomequick and Moorshop before tackling Pork Hill. The course then heads towards Merrivale, Princetown and the famous Dartmoor Prison, before looping around Burrator Reservoir and finishing back at Tavistock Town Hall.
